"*&mumble-mumble&*," the counter girl said.

It doesn't register. What? Let me go through the scenarios of what
they say here at Starbuck's when you're at the counter.

"Broderic." Yes, they usually ask for your name to write on your cup.

The counter girl stares at me.

I lean forward. "Uhh." What next? I already placed my order?

"Grande white mocha?"

The counter girl continues to stare.

I now want to say, "What did you ask," but my mind is stuck. I need
that coffee.

"W-w-w-what did you say?"

"Morning," she states.

"Oh! Good morning." Thanks for telling me. Your blank stare doesn't
help. Your quiet voice didn't help.

I repeat my order. "I guess I need the coffee more..." I manage to
stammer out.

I guess I need coffee more this morning. How do I manage to drive to
work on the other days?
