Oops. "Let the Right One In" has newish translation for the DVD/BluRay release. They're not the same as the English theatrical release. They are almost comical in their translation, "All your bases belong to us," style. They're gonna need fansubs, but done right.
On a side note, the English dub was terrible. We switched to the subtitles almost immediately. You couldn't take the kid seriously. Who are these guys doing the US release? Couldn't they have gotten some decent US anime voice dubbers to work through the emotions in the English dub?
Reading about this, I think it's best to get a import DVD and watch it on a region free player.

Labels: egg on the face, ha ha
People are hoping that they'll do an exchange, but I highly doubt it because they are a small distributor.
Man what a great fucking movie.
(talking on English dub)
audience: hahahahaha! ok, switch to subs instead. =p
Seed: it is indeed a very good movie! we do agree on that point again (plus fact is i like watching vampire movies, unlike browser)
I do wish they hadn't changed the Jungle Gym scene and the cafe scene. Also the scene where the guy pours acid on himself and says "I'm trapped" instead of "Eli" is lame.
It was funny because this exploded on the Bluray sites everywhere the day of release. People some were pissed and some didn't see the difference. The posts were entertaining to read.
What sucks is that Bluray has this thing called BD-J that can add extras like translation and special features after the fact for no charge, but... this being a smaller film they left out the BD-J feature. Heh. This could have been a good advertisement for bluray. "Due to fan response we decided to offer the original translation for download tomorrow" But too bad they didn't add BD-J. Oh well.
The various intonations are major part of films, even if the translation is slightly off.
I can't watch Anime subbed,
American school girls giggle< Japanese school girl giggle.
American boys "wha"< Japanese boys "Ugh!"
But that's just me.
