Should I be looking for a new job? The project I am working on is winding down and it looks as if it's gonna be put out to pasture soon. The only sites I know online to look for a job is Dice.com and Monster.com. Does anyone know of any other sites?

The US Postal Cycling Team is in its last year as sponsor for Lance Armstrong. Taking over the sponsorship duties for next year is the Discovery Channel. This brings a smile to my face as it links Lance Armstrong with my favorite Simpson's episode. As Martin said, "Team Discovery Channel!" Try saying that in character and it too will make you smile.

Is Lance Armstrong the greatest cyclist of all time? Being a six time winner of le Tour de France is a great achievement. A difficult task that the greats of the sport, Anquetil, Hinault, Indurain and Merckx never achieved. But is he the best of them all. My take is similar to what Paul Sherwin during today's telecast said, "He is the greatest Tour rider." I believe that Eddie Merckx is the greatest. Not only winning the Tour 5 times, but also the Giro d'Italia 5 times. Merckx is the best overall rider winning in different races throughout the season. Lance winning six makes him the greatest American rider.

07:40 Showered in sulfery water. Geothermal energy.
14:50 Done with Iceland. Blue Lagoon. Perfect end to the vacation. And the lunch wasn't bad at all. Flight in an hour.
15:50 Sitting on floor. Waiting for the boarding shuffle. I get the seat w/either stinky Europeans or crazy Americans. Can't wait to board.
21:35 Stuck between a bunch of French students. Pissing me off. When do we get home.

This is the last entry for our European vacation of 2001. It was a blast. A cruise. Then decompression in Iceland. If you get the chance, I think you should check out the Scandinavian side of Europe. It will delight and entrance you.

19:15 Back @ Hotel Saga/ Ate Chinese at Aziahusid. First country. Last country. Chinese food. Saw waterfalls Gullfoss and Geysir. Thingvellir, the place of the first parliament in Western. Lots of walking. Pulsyr. Hot dogs. Sunrise @ 4:00 am. Sunset @ 10:00 pm.

The cruise may have been over, but my brother, my mom and I visited another three days in Iceland. Amazing place. The mid-Atlantic ridge peeking out of the North Atlantic. I want to go again at least in mid-summer and mid-winter, the longest and shortest days of the year.

Need to wake up after 3 hours.

06:25 Up. Morning. Not much sleep. Can't wait to get off this ship. Purple @ 7:00 in the theatre.
08:25 Waiting in line. Dumb European airports.
12:28 Iceland time. It's kind of cold. Better than the heat wave in the US. Asta is our guide and Bjorn is our bus driver.

Thus ends our Baltic cruise. Visited lots of interesting countries. Those three email addresses are from some of the people we had met on the cruise. Unfortunately, I have never used them. What do you say to people whom you think thought you are strange? Anyway. We still have the disco.

Caught an early evening showing of The Bourne Supremecy. I kind of liked it. At the start, it felt like we had walked into the middle of the movie, because it continues from the last Bourne movie, The Bourne Identity. There was a little less action than in the first. The flick was a revenge movie, because once Franka Potente's character was killed, Jason Bourne had to avenge her death. The plot was methodical. Slow like Europe.

I am going to have to take this back. Lance Armstrong is a monster. That sprint win over Andreas Kloden on the final mountain stage today was just amazing. You never stop pedaling! All seconds count! And Lance takes it on the line! He is just a monster. I think 7 straight is a distinct possibility.

After watching hours upon hours of men on bikes, I finally read an article which does true justice for being a fan of le Tour. It is about those hot and amazing podium girls. Where do they come from? What do they do? Why are they so damn hot? Why aren't there more pictures?

If you know of any site that has podium girl pictures, please tell me. They're so damn awesome.

This will be a quick review.

I saw I, Robot this past weekend expecting it to be an action flick. Turns out it was equal parts thriller and detective story for three quarters of the film. Then as all summer movies must be, the action kicked in and the story turned for the worse. Not as bad as I thought it would be considering it was a Will Smith movie.

Today, Lance Armstrong just clinched his record sixth Tour de France. Finishing first in style on the mountain time trial on the infamous l'alpe d'Huez. He put time on all his rivals, Basso, Kloden, Ullrich. Awesome performance. He is still not the greatest cyclist. Eddie Merckx is. But Lance is damn close.

07:30 Viking tour. Last day. Early. Last night won some lose some at the craps table. Seasick from the motion. Rough seas. Had to check the horizon. Went to be early 01:00.
07:45 Mantz is our guide and Harris is the driver.
13:25 Leaving Oslo. Short time. Very pretty, clean, and nice wouldn't mind coming back.
16:40 Packing up. Just jam the clothers in the bag. No worry about wrinkles.
21:50 Packed and ready to go. Few things left. I'm kinda missing this place already.

Oslo. Nice town. Small by the ocean. Saw the Holmenkollen! That would be a nice thing to launch off of! Loved Oslo although it was our shortest stay.

Caught King Arthur in the matinee. This was a truly B movie. Dialogue. Plot. Acting. Actors. All of it was cut rate. The story seemed silly. If you had to describe it in a pitch think Saving Private Ryan meets The 13th Warrior. If you had to destroy the myth of King Arthur, this movie was the place to start. It wasn't even a bad summer movie to love. The king is dead.

Woke up early and cooked breakfast as I watched the live telecast of Le Tour de France on OLN. Lance Armstrong won the 13th stage followed by Ivan Basso. The reverse order of the 12th stage finish. This time Lance took the stage win without reservations and stated to the peloton that he is unstoppable. Basso if he still rides good in the next will challenge, but I don't think Lance will let him get close. It is his to win.

Another gritty performance by the current maillot jaune holder, Thomas Voekler. His is the story so far of the Tour. Gutting out 2 consecutive charges to the line to defend and keep the maillot jaune has got to be the most applaud inducing moments of the tour. I cheered for him. The happiness he had displayed when he crossed the time line still holding onto the maillot jaune was great. Voekler is a deserving holder for the 9 stages he has it.

11:55 Woke up late. All day on the boat. Gloomy. Foggy. Rainy. Can't wait for the next port. Breakfast. Lunch? Semi-formal dinner. Drunk. Will stop drinking. Up twenty in craps last night. At the bar w/cute girls.
15:55 Got out of pool and the jacuzzi. Freezing cold. Mmm. I feel good.

Was a cold rain soaked sail going to Norway from Poland. On the ship, it sucks because ther is not much to do. It became boring. We had done and seen it all.

Stage 12 of Le Tour. The mountains of the Prynees loomed today, which means that Lance Armstrong made his move. He gained a lot of time on his rivals, Jan Ullrich, Tyler Hamilton, and Iban Mayo. Lance came in second. Tomorrow the inevitable, Armstrong in the maillot jaune!

Also, good work for the current maillot jaune holder, Voelker. Amazing performance by the young rider to keep and defend the jersey for the last week.

Before seeing this movie, I mentioned to some co-workers that I had reservations about seeing it. That it might be a comedic movie in which you wait for the comedy to happen. "They're saying something funny. I should be laughing. Why am I not laughing?" I had every reason to hope that this would not be the case. Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed. This movie was like an SNL skit -- unfunny in long stretches. Considering that Will Farrell wrote it, it may have been a rejected SNL skit. A skit which did not make it to Saturday night, but was cut by Lorne Greene by showtime. I did not laugh once in the first 10 minutes, and it was hard to find something to laugh at for the rest of the movie. The only thing that saved it is the great Vince Vaughan. And if you don't mind spoilers, the Mexican standoff between local television news crews with Luke Wilson, Tim Robbins and Ben Stiller making hilarious cameos. I suggest you watch this flick next summer when it makes its rounds on HBO.

10:00 Waiting on tour to begin. Lots of rushing. Maybe they should post boarding times.
10:20 Thomas is our guide and the swordsman is our bus driver. We will drive for hours.
12:05 Malbork Castle. Gothic != Medieval. Hey. You can buy weapons here. Hot dogs.
15:05 Cole slaw. Meat wrap for lunch. Where can I get Polish sausage?

This was one of the more surreal days of the vacation. We were in Poland visiting Gdansk. Our tour guide was a nice fellow. He took us to Malbork Castle home of some Teutonic Knights. It was interesting, but I not as cool as I would've thought. We had a lunch which it seemed that only I liked. It was a mash up of beef and pork flattened and rolled into a wrap with a side of some grain that I don't know what it was. During lunch an elderly gentleman kept complaining about not getting a kielbasa. I wanted to tell him to just go to the snack shack in front of the castle and get yourself one. Walter could've continued his great Red Pulser Tour 2001 here by doing just that.

Anyway, we ended up shopping for amber in Gdansk wandering around looking for kielbasa. On the bus ride home, Thomas tells us the horrific story of his mother's survival from the Nazi concentration camps. I think we gave him a big tip.

I was in Barnes and Noble earlier this evevning and picked up The Cardigans, Gran Tourismo and Thievery Corporation, The Outernational Sounds. The former sounds great and I love Erase/Rewind. The latter seems to be another of there remix albums; not there original stuff. Both are going to get a lot of listening.

Posting has been slow of late. There are many reasons. First, I usually blog from my PC at home, but have been using the laptop more. Second, I suck at it. My writing style hasn't emerged effectively and I can't seem to carry a thought for more than a few sentences. Finally, I still don't know what I want to blog about. Politics? Movies? My life? I hope to decide in the near future. So for all my readers, I apologise for the sporadic posts. Sorry.

03:00 Met Estella, Betsy, Kyle tonight @ the disco. Fun. Threw down w/Gerry.

Um. Why'd I write Anna's email address on this thing? (Sorry for the spam, Anna.) I think I paid the exorbitant price to use their slow ass internet connection to email her telling her what a cool, fun time this has been. Estella? Betsy? Which one was the cute one? Damn, Gerry where's my wing man!

It's July therefore we must go to France to see one of the greatest spectacles in all of sports, the Tour de France. This year Lance Armstrong is gunning for a record setting sixth straight Tour win. Although a clear favorite to win it again, he must contend with former teammates Tyler Hamiliton and Roberta Heras, as well as the always runner-up Jens Ullrich.

I have always rooted for the Texan since his stunning and inspiring comeback and win in the 1999 Tour, but this year I have to root against him. Let no one rider be bigger than the Tour itself. If the great Eddie Merckx could not win six, then no man should. This is not to take away from the champion that Lance is. I will pull for him. I hope that a worthy challenger gives him a run for the yellow. I will cheer if he wins his sixth, but I am hoping for that not to happen. Allez, Lance! Allez, le tour!

Catch the action. It's awesome!

I don't have the time to review the latest movies that I have seen. Not that my reviews are all in depth and all. But I recently am going through a whirlwind of movie watching in recent days, 4 in the last week alone. Here then are the movies I have seen and a quick rating:

  • Saved. 3 of 5 stars.

  • Fahrenheit 9/11. 3 of 5 stars.

  • Spiderman 2. 5 of 5 stars.

  • The Terminal. 3 of 5 stars.

Slate discusses the economics of soccer. The best part of the article is their discussion of relegation -- awarding those teams that at least are trying to win (and winning). I don't see what is wrong with that concept. Basketball and baseball seem to be best to use it. Baseball with their talk of small market teams not being able to compete with the big market teams, and basketball with their lazy teams. It would also make the games at the end more meaningful for the players. They would have to play out the season.

22:00 Has been a while since I filled this out. Yesterday, the Hermitage. Why come all this way for a few Impressionist paintings? At least, we saw some Rembrandts. Last night, craps with beautiful girls. Trying desperately to meet them, but being Asian, they travel in packs. This morning went to Tallinn, Estonia. Girls just as beautiful in Russia, but seem more clean. Our guide was sexy Anna. A real woman. Lame American come-ons. Tonight more gambling. Losing in five minutes @ roulette.

Hmm. I didn't journal too much about Tallinn, Estonia. Amazing place. Loved the fact that the Finns and Swedes go there for the cheap liquor. Anna. Sexy, Anna. How did we get this pretty girl to be our tour guide? Did I put a move on her? No. I just asked her a question. She had the funniest excuse to not vote for the inclusion into the European Union. They didn't allow her to park in their parking lot. Amazing. Tallinn.
