Not sure what Shiraishi Mai is selling, but more of that off the shoulder action and I will go to my local conbini for some. Also, shouldn't it really be Misa-senpai selling alcohol because she's the sexy drinking senpai of Nogizaka?

Wandered around the local grocery store at 10 PM. I'm writing this after I got back.

It was all quiet. Peaceful.

I went in really for some frozen salmon. Earlier this evening I cooked the last I had for dinner. It was as an accompaniment for a salad. I used Chef John's Miso Honey marinade as the flavoring. It turned out delicious. Afterwards, I wanted to replenish my freezer with some frozen salmon. Off to the grocery I went.

I also picked up a few odds and ends. I usually do that. For you see, I don't really cook too much at home. Salads for lunch. The occasional soup. Breakfast of oatmeal. So that's all I have. Dinner is... salad if I'm lucky. Or out. So when I shop for groceries, it's usually weird stuff.

I bought a jar of jalapeños. I plan to make some jalapeño focaccia.

I bought lots of SweeTarts. I think I'm already sick of them.

I bought some frozen cod to go along with my frozen salmon.

I'll be cooking some of it up this weekend. Let's see if I know what to do!

I don't like business or finance, because of their relentless focus on making money without a care for how it affects the world. They have taken to heart the mantra: 'make money, make money, money, money.' Who does that philosophy put first? It certainly isn't employees, consumers, the economy, or the country, but the corporations, banks, and financial industry. There is nothing good when money is the sole focus of an endeavor. Especially, if you make it an excuse to gobble all the resources for yourself.

WWJD?

Link of the Day [9.26.2014]

On my trips out to Wisconsin, I bring home a block of cheese or two. The first time was two years ago. I bought the cheese at the airport in Milwaukee. This year on the trips up I bought cheese at this store. At the airport in Green Bay, they shake me down thinking this cheese is a block of C4. In reality, this cheese is the bomb. Pardon me while I go make a grilled cheese sandwich with 7 year old sharp cheddar.

it would help

Received an email from Zappos this morning that they had 1 pair of shoes that I wanted in stock. So I clicked the link to purchase. When I put it into my shopping cart, it said that they did not have it in stock any more. Yet, it still said that there was a pair in my size left. Ha!

So here they are mocking me. Making me want to reach into my iPad and straggle them. Come on. If it's there it's there. But don't tell me it is when it isn't. I mean you're computer could've stopped and told me there was none left before I tried to add it to the cart.

Computers can calculate a lot of things.

I keep visiting online umbrella shops looking for a nice one. Most likely, I've already posted a link about umbrellas. Today's link has some real cool umbrellas for a somewhat expensive yet decent price: expensive because an umbrella costing over a hundred dollars is ridiculous and decent because there are even more expensive ones out there. These are relatively good. I'm hoping that they are. I may buy one.

Why do I want an umbrella?

Bring on the rain!

Link of the Day [9.10.11]

I don't understand why you need to configure anything anymore. It's best to just get it out of the box. If it works, it works.

Configuration is for saps!

It's come to this. With the closing of Borders, it's become hard to find manga. You can still use Amazon or you can go digital.

Try today's link. Is it worth it?

Maybe, I'll just read the fansubs.

I can't believe I hadn't posted this as a cycling link before. They sell awesome bikes. Pricey, but I am wanting to get a Pegoretti.

Joining Derek Lee, Mark Reynolds, and JJ Hardy in Camden Yards this upcoming baseball season is BrowserMetrics, your humble narrator. I'm just as excited for the upcoming season as the other guys. I just made the commitment by re-upping my season tickets. I'm almost in the same spot, but now 2 rows closer.

Whaa?!

I thought I wanted to be further back in order to catch more foul balls. But then they told me that I could sit two rows closer and all those plans went out the window. Maybe, sitting closer to the ball person will help me increase my chances of receiving a loose ball here and there. Or maybe Nick Markakis can throw one my way.

Now how does this change my predicament of needing someone to come with? And how about when it is three or four people? Darn, I'm wondering if I can keep up as well...

Any takers on games?

Thanks for all the input to my upgrade question. I got plenty of responses, all good and helpful.

The order of options went as follows: 1) new laptop 2) iPad 3) iPhone.

We're gonna go with the laptop. It upgrades her to the 2010s and positions her for the future of computing. Later maybe an iPad is in the future. The iPhone would be a step too far for her. She barely uses her phone already.

I can't wait for this new machine.

Black Rock Shooter nendoroids are all the rage. I unfortunately got two of them. How did this happen? And, more importantly, will it happen again?

My current pre-orders are coming due. All the nendoroids are coming from as far away as Japan. They've been ordered months ago perhaps as far back as March. Only now they are being released.

My Saturday mornings are spent showing up at the post office to sign for a package from my favorite nendoroid seller, Hobby Search. I'm stuck in line waiting with the rest of the sad saps for a package at the package pick up window. It would be easier if I didn't have Hobby Search deliver them vie EMS, but the much cheaper and less of a hassle PAL. Of course, using the alternative means the nendoroids will be coming on the slow boat from China.

Anyway, two Black Rock Shooters, which is two too many. I had thought to cancel the order, but thought better of it. Maybe I should've checked how many I did order because one is sufficient for my nendoroid collection.

Who wants one?

Did you know Panasonic upgraded their awesome Lumix LX3 to the newer, and probably even awesomer, LX5? Will I ever get the GF-1?

After the post about looking for sneakers, I had stopped by Zappos.com to check out if they had the sizes I wanted. I did find what I needed there, but didn't buy anything. You know zappos does you well by not charging you shipping for your shoes you buy especially if you had to return them. Except now at every website I visit, Zappos.com is taunting me with the shoes. Seems they're following me everywhere I go. I guess the only way to stop this is to buy a pair.

Never could stand white sneakers. Unfortunately, white is their predominant. Yeah, it makes it hard to buy sneakers, then. I don't like white sneakers, because once you get them dirty, they become ugly.

But I can't stand black sneakers, they make your feet look tiny. Black is also sneaker's second most popular color. The set of sneakers I can buy gets smaller and smaller as I shop.

I went sneaker shopping today and bought a pair of grey Adidas. Now there's a color to like. This pair are running shoes. I looked at some casual Sperry slip-ons, but no size 9. They have 9 1/2, which were a tad too big. I would've liked to have compared the 9 to 9 1/2 just to see if they felt better. I then found the Adidas (9 1/2) that I bought, but I am completely underwhelmed with them. I still bought them as I like the brand and the color, but I kept searching for another pair.

I checked out tennis shoes. What a difference! They fit and feel better than running shoes. I've been deceiving myself all my life. Because tennis demands white, all tennis shoes are white. They don't have another color except black -- the two colors I can't stand. Yet, now I have to get a pair of white tennis shoes because they feel so much better than the running shoes that I've been buying.

My prejudice has been arrested. White it is.

This damn thing will cost as much as the original iPhone!

Been trying all morning to pre-order it. I was slightly successful the first time around. The time being about 8:00 AM. It was in my shopping cart. I stared at it for a few minutes and decided to change my plan. I clicked edit, and, tada, Apple store down screen shot.

Here at work IE7 seems to not like displaying the purchase page correctly. I don't know if that is affecting submission of form.

I downloaded the new Apple Store App. Tried to purchase. App crashes out to main screen.

Hilarity!

I wonder if it is all worth it considering I feel like white this time. When's that white coming out? "End of summer." FRACK!

So I started getting my stuff in order in my house. Things are still scattered all over my house, but I spent most of the morning cataloging my books using Delicious Monster's Library. I've got lots and lots and lots of books almost 400, and I've yet to go into my office with the bookshelves. Tons of the books are manga. I'm gonna have to get rid of quite a few, because I can't bear to re-read them or I didn't like in the first place.

I decided to make use of the local used bookstore in town, Ukazoo. I know they buy books back, so I pack up my eight volumes of Black God and the volume of Biomega to test drive the book buy back. I'm no longer fascinated with Black God, and Biomega is not my cup of tea.

Into a bag they go, and I am off to Ukazoo. I drop them off at the buy back desk and wander around the store giving them a chance to decide how much they will pay me for used books.

Ukazoo's manga section is somewhat sparse and features many older titles. I would like to grab a few, but that would defeat my purpose for coming here -- to offload my junk without gaining any new junk.

I get back to the buy back desk. $4.98. Couldn't they just make it a nice round $5?

I ask if they get any manga. She says they do, but they usually go to the warehouse to be sold online!!

So, I paid about $100 for 9 volumes of manga. They'll buy it back for $5. They'll then sell the manga for $4 a piece. I don't know whether to feel outraged or relief.

On the one hand, my money is gone and I am not even coming close to recouping the cost. The store is gonna make good scratch off of me. On the other hand, my house is a smidge less cluttered. On the third hand, they only gave me $4.98!

Is the cost of having a less cluttered house worth $4.98? I think it may be, but I wish it was worth more. I feel foolish to accept such pittance, but I really want to get rid of this clutter. I did think about donating books to the public library for free and yet, I am bothered by this offer.

Should I be?
