"The intel on this wasn't 100%."

For all you Mac heads, programming nerds, and code monkeys read this article about porting BBEdit from PPC to x86 for the big, unfortunate Apple switch to Intel. Interesting stuff. The most being that it took them 24 hours to make their app cross-platform! Guh!

And that is why BBEdit rulez! As well as programming for the Mac. I need to get on the bandwagon.

It has been a while since I posted about the Amazing Race. Even though this one is not as fun as the other times, I still like the concept and the show. YeeHaw! I can't stand those Weavers. They are going to win and when they do they shall praise god and heaven. I don't want to hear it.

This season has not have the jump up and down feel to it. I think it has to do with them driving all the time. There's no taxis. There's no trains. There's no planes. Too much automobiles. They should've taken AmTrack somewhere. That would've been cool.

Derailed. The main character is portrayed by Clive Owen. I have seen a lot of his movies and upon further viewing I realized that I can't stand this guy. He makes me not like him. Every character he plays is a schmuck including King Arthur.

If you have seen plenty of movies, this film will not surprise you. It basically writes itself. The twist wasn't even a twist and you could've guessed it 30 minutes in. Maybe they should've gotten an even less familiar face to be the villain. Or maybe they should've offered the roles to Eric Roberts and Shannon Tweed, because this felt like a direct to Skin-a-max movie. Now that I would've not minded to see.

Low End Mac does a run down on how Apple created notebook fever. People wanted one of these from the get go. In fact, my first Apple was a PowerBook 140. I currently own a TiBook and have been trying to resurrect my PowerBook 190. For as much as I have loved Apple, I have only owned their laptops. No desktops. Yet.

I saw that Pixar just released Knick Knack on the Apple Music Store. I bought it for $1.99. I don't know why.

I had orignally seen it at one of those animation festival films back in college. I still remember how sweet it was to see.

Computer animation has come along way.

I don't think I'll be planning on buying anymore videos for a while.
Whitetail and Liberty look to be starting to blow snow this week. Tonight we've had flurries.

I can't wait to ride.
The house in Spain owned by my parents and their friends. This is where we plan to have a vacation next summer. Planning. The question is will that come to fruition?

If you need a place to stay or plan a vacation contact the owners about this place. They'll give you a good deal.

Can we get some competence here?
The Movie Of Your Life Is A Black Comedy

In your life, things are so twisted that you just have to laugh.
You may end up insane, but you'll have fun on the way to the asylum.

Your best movie matches: Being John Malkovich, The Royal Tenenbaums, American Psycho
If Your Life Was a Movie, What Genre Would It Be?

If my life were this type of movie it would suck. And it's not that great right now. I could not stand Being John Malkovich. Never could sit through The Royal Tenenbaums. American Psycho scared me. If it's supposed to be funny, I am not laughing.

I wish I turned out to be some kind of romantic comedy.
Looks as if its boffo boxoffice numbers for a certain four eyed wizard with scar on his forhead. Yes, it's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire making bank this weekend. And of course I had watched it. And it was disappointing. The reviews lead us to believe that it was dark and a good rendition. I didn't think it was. A death doesn't make it dark. And it is not as good as the previous Potter movie.

I was somewhat bored. At least, I knew the story and where it's going which kept me up.

3 of 5 stars.

And seeing the movie, I had to read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. And it was good. Very good. I am waiting for the last one. And I can't wait. Rowling has basically abandonned the school story line. Harry going to Hogwart's only as a prop to do his stuff. It has become more interesting and a little bit more mature. No longer concerned with daily school chores, Rowling has focused on telling the story. And what a story! The plotting in the last 3 books (from goblet of fire, order of the phoenix and half-blood prince) is very tight. She has weaved a very interesting story and the twists and turns are very hard to see. Yes, you all know that AD bites it, but that Horcrux twist was amazing. The only thing is that she kind of gets you confused when she has to describe a battle.

A+

Zarutha was just like Jumanji except not as good. I believe it lacked the David Allen Grier laugh machine, the hot Bebe Neuwirth, and the eccentricities of Robin Williams. (I don't believe I just said I miss Robin Williams in a movie!) What we end up with is Dax Shepard.

I always thought that Zach Braff was Dax Shepard. Or is it the other way around? Throughout the movie I thought it was Braff. I even waited until the credits to see if it was. It was not. Yet, I thought he went by a pseudonym to avoid being stuck in a stiff holiday film. Just look, Zach or Dax. They roll off the tongue the same way. Either way with that dude in it, Zathura was a snore.

It would've been better as a 4 player game same as Jumanji.

3 of 5 stars.

Prime. I thought the movie was written and directed by Ben Younger. who also did Boiler Room. I thought that he had starred in it also, because that would have gotten him close to fool around with Uma Thurman. It would have been his best chance.

Anyway, it was a nice movie. Not a full blown funny movie, but a charming film. It lost its way in the last third. In fact when a movie skips ahead a year, you know that the writer couldn't figure out how to finish it off relying instead on a cliched plot device. The bittersweet ending was predictable, but still touching. I like it when the guy doesn't get the girl. Put this in your NetFlix queue if you have the chance.

3 of 5 stars.

BoingBoing links to a NYT article about stuffed animals tied to the front of trucks. The article quotes an old friend, Rob Marbury. Fellow '89 Gilman graduate. Looks as if he's doing things on his own terms. Good for him.

The scuttlebutt out of Hollywood for those that care is that the 'brilliant' tv show, Arrested Development is in imminent danger of being cancelled. So what? With new and differing revenue streams abounding in today's digital age, the producers should look to other ways to keep the show going.

They can try pay cable. Make the show more edgy and it might have a chance on HBO or even the second class Showtime television programming.

They can try DVDs. Those seem to be a cash cow. In fact, I spend more for television shows that I want to watch on DVDs than on regular movies. They offer more bang for the buck.

They can try iTunes. They offer television shows now. Supposedly a million videos have been downloaded in the couple of months the service has been offered.

It seems to me with the audience for television shows dwindling. Producers can take advantage of other mediums to showcase their stuff. I think people would buy it.

Hello to all those visiting. It seems that my blog here is finally looking to generate some traffic. For all those commenters how the heck did you end up here? I know that virtually no one reads this blog (hey Walt! Hey Gerry!).

Please post how you got here in the comments. I sure do appreciate it.

Empire Magazine UK has compiled a list of the 50 greatest independent films. As usual, some of these are debatable as to their inclusion (Terminator? WTF?) and some directors/auteurs are missing (No Wes Anderson? No David O Russell?). I wonder how they came to pick them.

This list is ripe for Pete from APCB to riff on. He likes lists and is a movie reviewer.

Once more and many more times until 2008, electing George W. Bush in 2000 was the worst. Mistake. Ever.

As Herman Blume; so nicely said, "Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it."

The Weatherman with Nick Cage. I did not like his character. I felt like shouting out, "It's over. You failed at your marriage. Get over it." I also did not like the relationship that the weatherman had with his father. I didn't understand it. Plus, it seemed as if the father should've shaken his son a little bit more. Damn get your son on target. With that said, it wasn't a bad movie. I laughed. Funny thing about it I thought it was an Alexander Payne film, but it was a Gore Verbinski.

This had Oscar try written all over it. I don't think it was great, but it was good. If you can get over the nastiness that was the characters.

3 of 5 stars. (I would give it a half a star if I gave them out).

DriveTime with Ravi Jain is such a hilarious video podcast. I wish I thought of it. I did think about something similar though. It would be a photo essay of me driving to work. Maybe 365 pictures or at least the number for me going to work.

It was somewhat similar to my "2nd Story" photo essay, a view from my window across the street. I think I got about 14 pictures with the building going up. I should've continued, but winter was setting in and I was unable to take the shot in the dark.
If you are reading this on IE on a PC, you'll know that this post renders ugly. I am making this post to get it off the main page. Since no one really reads the archive, then the fact that Oct 2005 looking all messed up should make no difference.
