Received an email from Zappos this morning that they had 1 pair of shoes that I wanted in stock. So I clicked the link to purchase. When I put it into my shopping cart, it said that they did not have it in stock any more. Yet, it still said that there was a pair in my size left. Ha!
So here they are mocking me. Making me want to reach into my iPad and straggle them. Come on. If it's there it's there. But don't tell me it is when it isn't. I mean you're computer could've stopped and told me there was none left before I tried to add it to the cart.
Computers can calculate a lot of things.

I've had some of
the dashi I made for ramen taking up space in my freezer for a few months now. I also have a ton of shiro miso in the cupboard. I think I'll make some miso soup. How hard can that be?
First, I thaw out the last of the dashi and get it boiling on the stove. It's about a cup and half of dashi. I then decide that I should put some vegetables in the soup, so I slice up a carrot and throw it in the boiling dashi. I cook this for a few more minutes. In a moment of stupidity, I decide to throw some wakame seaweed in as well. After all, most of the miso soup served at your garden variety Japanese restaurant is contains wakame (and tofu). Then comes the miso. Just 1 tablespoon. I let this cook for another few minutes then plate and serve.
Blecc! I can only get throw a couple of spoonfuls before I throw it all away in disgust.
First of all it is too salty. I always thought it was 1 tablespoon per cup, but now I know that it should be less. The dashi probably adds to the salt as well. As far as the carrots and wakame go, they don't do so well together. I should stick to the tried and true wakame and tofu recipe or maybe find some other vegetables that would work with carrots. What's scaring me is that I had some sardines staring me in the face and I wanted to add it to the mix.
All my attempts at Japanese cooking needs more research.

Upgraded the MobileMe calendar to the latest one because they kept hassling me every time I logged on. Of course doing so came with plenty of caveats. First is that it is really for Snow Leopard. Sadly, my main machine is still Leopard. I haven't taken that plunge because of the file binding issue. Second, is that MobileMe hates the Camino browser and Mozilla in general. Not really, but Camino is getting long in tooth and is probably on its way to the dev/null in bit bucket heaven.
So I go ahead any way. Ignoring these warnings.
Once I am done I am curious as to what really happens upon the sync. I open up iCal. Create a test entry. Click sync.
I get the weird diff viewer telling me I had a couple hundred events that were about to be deleted. Cool! It'll clean my stuff up. Of course it will and it did. Cleaned it all sparkly and new so that I had no more calendars in iCal. Now how am I to sync? Luckily, Apple knows that some users are just lazy and has helpfully created a
support page to address syncing with 10.5.x. My calendars are back.
Now hop do you sync with 10.4.x?

Joining Derek Lee, Mark Reynolds, and JJ Hardy in Camden Yards this upcoming baseball season is BrowserMetrics, your humble narrator. I'm just as excited for the upcoming season as the other guys. I just made the commitment by re-upping my season tickets. I'm almost in the same spot, but now 2 rows closer.
Whaa?!
I thought I wanted to be further back in order to catch more foul balls. But then they told me that I could sit two rows closer and all those plans went out the window. Maybe, sitting closer to the ball person will help me increase my chances of receiving a loose ball here and there. Or maybe Nick Markakis can throw one my way.
Now how does this change my predicament of needing someone to come with? And how about when it is three or four people? Darn, I'm wondering if I can keep up as well...
Any takers on games?

Black Rock Shooter nendoroids are all the rage. I unfortunately got two of them. How did this happen? And, more importantly, will it happen again?
My current pre-orders are coming due. All the nendoroids are coming from as far away as Japan. They've been ordered months ago perhaps as far back as March. Only now they are being released.
My Saturday mornings are spent showing up at the post office to sign for a package from my favorite nendoroid seller,
Hobby Search. I'm stuck in line waiting with the rest of the sad saps for a package at the package pick up window. It would be easier if I didn't have Hobby Search deliver them vie EMS, but the much cheaper and less of a hassle PAL. Of course, using the alternative means the nendoroids will be coming on the slow boat from China.
Anyway, two Black Rock Shooters, which is two too many. I had thought to cancel the order, but thought better of it. Maybe I should've checked how many I did order because one is sufficient for my nendoroid collection.
Who wants one?

I don't quite know how to explain what's wrong with this venn diagram. What's the circle on the right supposed to represent? Why does the box that encapsulates it all have two labels? What's the junction supposed to represent when the circle doesn't really have anything? Hunh?

As much as I hate it, as much as I don't want it to happen, as much as it would suck, the Damned Yankees may win the World Series.
They won't win because of their money bought all the talent. They spent close to $200 million to sign their ace pitchers, Sabathia & Burnett, and the liar, Texeira. These guys contributed to the Yankees winning the AL pennant.
They won't win because of their veterans. Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Andy Petitt, and Mariano Riviera are future Hall of Famers who are the best playing the game right now.
They may win it for one simple reason. The Curse on Mike Mussina has been lifted.
Mike Mussina was a Baltimore Oriole before he signed on with the New York Yankees in 2000 off season. He was the O's ace, a position he never attained for the Yankees. When he left, it broke a lot of fans hearts. And we cursed him and the Yanks.
He made it to two World Series (2001 & 2003). He lost. He lost out to the Red Sux as they sucked their way back into baseball posterity.
The Yankees lost with him in their rotation. Now he's not there. They may win the World Series.

Went to DC to get some lunch at an all you can eat Filipino buffet. Picked up CapitolSwell at his house which is just down Connecticut Ave. Driving down the street and everyone was Sunday driving. What's wrong with people! I pass them, but realize that it's because of all the traffic cameras there to ensnare hapless motorists. Damn. I just hope that they were under repair as there was a maintenance vehicle with one of the boxes open while we cruised through at around 40 mph.
Leaving DC, it's the same story.
